The injuryrate

Many people think that the injuryrate must be high by parkour, but in fact it is very low as jou are not doing things you are not ready for. Of couse little scratches are possible and will not stay away. The following movie from supermanpk show how many "accidents" end up.

Preventing injuries

Of course you always have to be aware what you can do (don't do a precision on buildings if you can't do it very well at a lower level with the same distance). There are many movies in which people are doing big jumps, but don't forget that parkour is not about doing big jumps or beeing better then someone else. Parkour is not a competition sport. It is also very importand to pay attention to every move - doing a jump with closed eyes, even if you have done the same jump 1000 times before, is no good idea. Another point is to check the obstacle before doing something with it. There is a chance that the obstacle is not strong enough or slippery etc. Moreover you should never force your body to something you can't do. You can learn it step by step. Another very importand part of injury prevention is doing conditioning, strength and flexebilitytraining. David Belle is a good example. Because of his training he never brook a bone. Another point of interest is that smaller injuries make the body stronger so that people taking a considered risk tended to get less often seriously injured than a person who is trying to prevent himself from every scratch.

Moste appearing injuries

There are some raar injuryes witch can apear like for example jumpers knie and shin splints etc. This injuryes are very often consequenzes of bad training like not keeping enough rest, to exercice to extensive etc. This can also happen by every other sport and most of the time some rest can help. In many casses the part witch was injured will afterwards be even stronger.
