  Rules

Even so Parkour, Freerunning and l'art de duplacement offer a lot of freedom, there are some "rules". This rules are probably obvious and needless to explain a partitioner. However, for some non partitioner they might not be that obvious. That is why this rules are shortly summarised and put into an English and an Dutch document which can be downloaded.
  • Respect your environment
  • Respect (each) other(s)
  • If something gets damaged, stand up for the damage
  • Now your limits
  • Train safe
  • You finish together what you started together

Respect your environment

This means respecting people (see next point) as well as objects. In the case of objects it means that they should not be damaged and if the owner does not want objects to be touched, this has to be respected. In order to prevent any trouble like being prohibited a complete spot because of a small mistake all objects should be checked if they are stable and gardens should not be touched of cause. If the objects might be seen as private property, it has to be asked for permission. Furthermore a spot should be left behind as it was found.

In some clips, especially movies and commercials people can be seen training on roofs. however, this can cause lots of trouble. In the case of movies and commercials there has always been asked for a permission. As it can cause lots of trouble the first choice is preventing being on roofs. Damage may not only lead to collapsing of the roof, but can also lead to leaking. For the case that it can not be prevented to be on a flat roof (roofs with tils have always to be avoided) Blaauw Onderhoud & Reparatie and Essers Dakwerken where so kind to provide some guidelines for being on the roof.
They mention that the warmer the roof is, the more vulnerable it is and that sharp things can damage the roof. This means that grind etc. has to be removed or avoided and shoes with a sole as flat as possible are advised. Furthermore pressure has to be spread about an as big area as possible. This means that landindings have to be perfect and avoiding is the best option. Finally the seams have to be avoided as they are the most vulnerable part.

Respect (each) other(s)
You have to respect other partitioner's as well as non-participants.
This means for instance take concerns of non-participants series and be willing to discuss with them. It also means that you pay attention to make people not feel uncomfortable. One example of such an situation which should be avoided is jumping in a crowded place where the training hampers there movement or may even give them the feeling of being in danger of for example be stroke during a jump. Another example which could make people feel uncomfortable can be being on top of a wall which is meant to keep people out. Being on the outside of the wall without climbing on it is in most cases not felled as intimidation.
If you train with others you have to keep in mind that everyone is different. Some are training longer than others, the focus of the training might be different and last but not least body's differ greatly. A child for instance needs to do a wall run to reach an hight which adults can just grab. This means everyone trains in a good way for him/herself and should be respected.

I
f something gets damaged, stand up for the damage
Of cause damage should be prevented in first place, meaning it should be carefully considered if an object is strong enough for training or might get damaged. Should still something get damaged, stand up for the damage and find a way with the owner how to solve this. This also applies if something gets dirty. If this happens, it can be cleaned or repainted.

Now your limits
Your body will tell you what you can do. Don't let you push beyond what you are capable of. Do keep in mind that you need to leaf your comfort zone. This means moves may be difficult, but have to be possible. If not, now an escape route.
Train safe You always need to be aware and pay attention. Even if you did a move already thousands of times. Also keep your limits in mind.

You finish together what you started together
Trainings which are started together, are finished together.
