Introduction

By parkour own creativity and experimenting is very important and the body of everyone is different so that one person can do a move another one can’t. There can have many different reasons. They can be from mental to physical and if someone wants to do a move he or she should find their own way how to reach the goal. What one person helps to overcome a physical or mental problem does not need to be the solution for someone else. However there are some very useful tutorials as they can prevent injuries by for example reducing the impact of a drop on the knees and back. These are the tutorials which are mentioned below and both sides need to be trained. furthermore you should repeet a technique after it worked out at least two times so that the technique worked three times in a row, because if you are doing it again on another day you will know that you can do it and it will work again.

Landing

With a good landing technique it is possible to reduce the impact on the knees and back by precison landings, landings after voulds over fences etc. significantly. The following movie shows how you should land and how you can train.

(by Parkour Generations)
It is also very important not to bend your legs more than 90 degree. Furthermore it is important to look during the landing forward, into the direction you want to continue to move. In combination with this technique squads should be practiced.

Crane landing

This technique is a technique you use if you are jumping a bit too short for a precision landing on a wall etc. By this landing you put one food on top of the wall and the other against the wall. This landing is a good technique to prevent falling backwards.

Precision landing

There are manly two different versions.
By one you jump on the top like if you are jumping up and down. This makes sense if the distance to jump is very short or if there is relative to the distance a big difference in the high. In this case you will use the landing shown by parkour generation.
The other technique is to jump against the corner of the wall and to use the momentum to get on top of it. This technique is very useful if you are jumping bigger distances. In this case you are not doing the shown landing above beneath you, but in front. This means that your legs are stright and in about a 45 degree angel to the opject you want to land on. Now you do a sort of a squad and use the forward momentum to get on top of the obstacle.

Jumping back from a precision

If you are doing a long precision and reach the corner with both foods, but can’t get on top of it, it makes sense to absorb as much of the impact of the jump and then to stretch your legs again which results in a jump backwards. This will prevent you from falling back and perhaps breaking your wrist by trying to slow down the landing. This technique gives you the possibility to land on your foods.

Parkour roll

The parkour roll is a technique which converts the downward momentum into forward momentum adn probaply the most importent techniek. By doing so the roll “absorbs” a big part of the impact. The following three tutorials show how you can practice the roll and different aspects you should focus on.

You can go from training with a sweater (protecting your shoulder) over a shirt to a shirt without sleeves. Furthermore you can start the dive roll low and then build up to a higher dive roll. For the dive roll it is important to have some strength in your arms so that you can control the vault.

If you realy want to try a special move and can’t find it out on your own than are providing good tutorials.
